Frequently asked questions

  • Coventina is committed to providing cis and trans women with safe spaces to gather. If you identify as a woman, you are welcome here. Our values are rooted in being a feminist, trans-inclusive, anti-racist organisation and we encourage the hosts who promote their events on our platform to be the same. That being said, it is ultimately up to the host who they include in their events.

  • Coventina was created so that women can find places to drop their bundle and be themselves within a supportive, non-judgemental community. This could look like many things and we are open to promoting a diverse set of events that encourage women to rest, connect, honour their bodies, exercise creativity and playfulness, and teach the next generation how to do so as well. We do not condone any event found to be promoting violence, racist, sexist, homophobic, anti-trans or extremist behaviours and views. If you have an event you’d like to promote, please see the next question to learn how to get in touch.

  • If you are interested in promoting one of your events on Coventina, please send an email to coventina.app@gmail.com with a detailed description of the event, including when and where it is and a link for attendees to enroll or book. We’re in the very early stages of building our platform and providing hosts with a way to upload events on their own is high on our priority list. You can sign up here to stay updated on when this feature will be available.

  • We wish we could vet and guarantee every event listed on Coventina will be a safe space, but as we grow this likely won’t be possible. We strongly encourage you to do your own research on the event and host to ensure it is a space you will feel comfortable in, as this will be different for everyone. If you attend an event and find that it did not feel like a safe and supportive space, we encourage you to feed that back to the host of the event directly. All that being said, we will not tolerate and reserve the right to remove any event found to be promoting violence, racist, sexist, homophobic, anti-trans or extremist behaviours and views. We are in the process of creating Community Guidelines so that hosts and attendees know what to expect from the events promoted on our platform.

  • Coventina was initially launched under the name ‘Moon Lodge’. In pre-modern times, Moon Lodges, or Red Tents as they are also known, were private spaces for women and girls to gather away from men around the time of the new moon to rest and connect with each other. While this name more accurately represented what the platform was aiming to promote, it is a name borrowed from the Native American tradition, one our founder has no ancestral claim to. Kate recognised the need to rename the platform as to not culturally appropriate the idea of the Moon Lodge. Kate’s ancestry is based in Britain and Northern Europe and so she dove into research about Celtic traditions. While she didn’t find a Celtic equivalent of the Moon Lodge, she was drawn to the name of a Romano-British goddess of the land who has a wellspring shrine dedicated to her in the north of England. Coventina’s connection with such life-giving elements is what inspired Kate to rename the platform after her.
